What you are going to see is a successful test of a laser anti-rocket called ADAM taking out a Qassam-type rocket in flight. This should keep Hezbollah’s Nasrallah awake at night.

If you are looking for a good read on Middle East recent history, you would do well to get a copy of Elliott Abram’s book, Tested by Zion. I admit to being a history and specifically a Middle Eastern history junkie. As an insider, Elliott Abrams has seen lots of it up close and very personal. Let me give you a tiny view inside the US State Department from the book. You are surely familiar with Colin Powell. The former Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and later Secretary of State, he was the beneficiary of Republican President...

When one tries to nail down the Palestinian ethos, it leads to feeling that you may be as schytzo as they are. On one hand you have them talking about wanting peace with Israel. Then one comes across the kind of report that theTower.org published not long ago: Palestinian Officials, Family Praise Terrorist Who Stabbed To Death Israeli Father of Five by TheTower.org Staff “The family of Palestinian terrorist Salam Zaghal, who earlier … stabbed to death Israeli Evyatar...

We first met him at a bombing. Not a very auspicious site, I agree, but we were impressed with how he carried himself, how he addressed the press, and the way he did his job. We later were with him for the opening of an exhibition of Chinese ice sculpture in Jerusalem. Again, we liked what we saw. I happen to think he is the best thing to happen to the local government since Teddy Kollek. Nir Barkat recently sat for an interview and took tough questions and some snowballs. He answered them openly and honestly. We hope you enjoy the work done...

Hassan Nasrallah, head of the terrorist group Hezbollah has turned the tables on Syrian President Bashar Assad. Formerly it was Assad who was helping Hezbollah. Now Nasrallah says it will come to Syria’s aid. Recently Nasrallah spoke to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hezbollah's Al-Nour radio station, and said that Hezbollah would reclaim the Golan Heights from Israel. For his part, Nasrallah has spent most of his time since the summer of 2006 hiding in one bunker or another, since Israel is still interested in whacking him. As many...

One thing you don’t get from tourist brochures is a picture like this. In fact –thankfully- most Israelis don’t often see something like it currently. During the Second Intifada it was a regular thing. Buses, hotels, groceries and restaurants were blown up, usually by suicide/homicide bombers. Shootings were more rare, but also came to Israeli civilians. Now days, the wars are in Arab nations around the rim of the Mediterranean Sea. As former Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon recently said, “the so-called "Arab Spring"...

Nadav Shragai presented some great facts in Israel Hayom recently. Facts about how East Jerusalem is filled with so many Arabs who want to keep Jerusalem united. Who want to enjoy life under Israeli control and stay out of the clutches of the Palestinian Authority. The photo here shows an Arab woman and an Orthodox woman (in pink). This was taken near Ben Yehuda Street. It is a walkway filled with both peoples as they shop, dine and pass from one store to another. Read on: Jerusalem for all its citizens By Nadav Shragai For...

According to reports, folks are pretty happy in the Holy City. Having lived in Jerusalem since 2006, we have witnessed the locals dealing with terrorist attacks, crowded streets, wars, high taxes (going higher), housing shortages, and more, and doing it with a sense of contentment and confidence in the future. Part of that recently has been Mayor Nir Barkat who has done a stellar job of seeing the city go from the poorest city in Israel to one on the grow. Ynetnews.com reports on a survey: By Danny Adeno Abebe ...

Secretary of State John Kerry seems to have fallen into the Middle East pit of peace. He is wanting – well, perhaps a Nobel Peace Prize. They seem to be handed out to lots of liberals, but the surest way is an agreement between the Palestinians and Israel. There doesn’t have to be results. Just a prize for talk. Like the one Obama received. But what is going on in Israel with PM Netanyahu playing nice? What else could he do? If he doesn’t agree to agree with the ideas put forth for peace he and Israel will just receive even...

When Americans visit Israel, and get to the dessert stage of a meal, they are usually surprised. The items are devastatingly enticing. But they are about half as sweet as the Westerners are used to. Even the candies that come wrapped in familiar paper like Twix are different. This doesn’t mean they aren’t delicious. Just different. They become an acquired taste. So, with this in mind, we thought you and some of our cook-friends in North Carolina might like these recipes. They come courtesy of a new restaurant in Tel...
