Rifaat al-Assad and his brother Syrian president Hafez al-Assad wiped out the city of Hama. It was the location of a Sunni Muslim uprising. The brothers sent in a tank regiment commanded by Rifaat that pounded the city until it was in total ruins, and then the bulldozers moved in and pancaked it, then poured concrete over it. There was nothing left but the buried bodies.

So when we talk about Bashar Assad gassing his people, we remind you that this is Standard Operating Procedure for how to handle opposition in Syria.

In an interview with a liberal friend in Jerusalem on the subject of Syria, he reminded me that the heir apparent for Hafez al-Assad was Bashar’s older brother....

According to VP Joe Biden, the impending strike by US and probably other forces is not about taking down Syrian President Bashar Assad. It is about punishing him for using chemical warfare against Syrian civilians.

Yes, this is the same Uncle Joe who in 2007 said that military attacks without Congressional sign-off was an impeachable offense. But then we already know that this all depends on whose ox gets gored.

There is little doubt that it was Syria who launched the chemical gas attack. The other side has never been seen to be so armed.

Egypt has led the way by putting Morsi in jail and body slamming the Muslim Brotherhood, effectively showing PA President for life, Mahmoud Abbas how it is done.

The photo shows Hamas leader Ismail Haniyia and Abbas faking smiles for the cameras, though they despise one another.

As one Palestinian leader said recently, Fatah is threatening “painful decision” to end the political divide that has separated Gaza and Fatah. In 2007 there was a bloody coup in Gaza in which Fatah saw many of their people, including the so-called Security Forces killed and many more...

According to Israel Hayom, quoting Gen. Martin Dempsey, said, “The Obama administration is opposed to even limited U.S. military intervention in Syria because it believes that the rebels fighting the Assad regime would not support American interests if they were to seize power, Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, wrote to a congressman in a letter obtained by The Associated Press.”

WOW! Is someone finally reading the tea leaves in the correct cup?

I grant you that the quote, from Dempsey to a congressman and then to the AP is a roundabout...

All of my “likes” have not been the most popular people in the media. That is an understatement concerning former Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld. But I liked him well enough to pattern my character Don Rogers after him in my first two novels, Prequel and One Time Messengers.

I enjoyed watching his press conferences.

Rumsfeld has been around for a long time. He knows defense and he knows international policy and politics.

Recently he was interviewed by and the following article is a summation of the interview....

Few things can confuse and frustrate American supporters of Israel more than the issue of releasing Palestinian men held in Israeli prisons for acts of terrorism/murder.

That has been the recent case, with Sec. of State John Kerry doing the glad-handing between Saeb Erekat and Tzipi Livni.

It seems insane to most of our readers who come to one of our presentations in the States. Who would ever turn loose people who are rabid killers just to get the other side to agree just to sit with them at a negotiation table? Who indeed.
