In the above you can get an idea of the spread of the East’s Muslim spread and the areas where Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims make up the majority among their brethren.

I show it before adding our commentary to a very good article from www.TheTower.org.

What with American influence at a new low in the Arab lands, not to mention many other areas, there should be some ideas – and some education – in the minds of Americans. That is especially true with upcoming elections.

Don’t look for most of our politicians to really, substantially speak of this because it is deeper...

I suppose I should not be shocked, but a conversation with a friend who spent fifteen years as a government employee left me almost speechless. (No wisecracks, please)

We were discussing the current political situation and when I mentioned that I did not like the trending toward greater government involvement in the lives of American citizens she responded, “I don’t watch the news. If I can’t get it from public broadcasting, I just don’t want to know about it.”

(Speechless yourself yet?)

Hearing that, I decided to test the waters with, “Well,...

Last week we reported that the bullet that struck a door in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev might well have been the result of a stray shot fired in the Arab neighborhood of Shuafat.

That was obviously wrong. (Oops.)

The photo at the left shows Jerusalem’s light rail passing through Pisgat Ze’ev.

As the Jerusalem Post reported, “A 20-year-old Arab resident of a refugee camp adjacent to Jerusalem’s northeastern Shuafat neighborhood, who repeatedly fired gun shots at Jewish homes in neighboring Pisgat...

It was almost too good to be true when Israel said that they had all the tunnels taken out from Gaza to Israel. Now comes a report from the Times of Israel that says in spite of Egypt’s claim that 1300-plus tunnels into Gaza were destroyed along the Rafah border between Gaza and Egypt, a Bedouin – the best smugglers of the Middle East – claims to have another 500.

Here’s what was not reported. It has to be a fact that any number of terrorist/smuggler tunnels from from the Egyptian-Israel border. That poses a whole new problem for Israel. I admit that I’m guessing,...

It’s not uncommon to seem males embrace and exchange kisses. I have experienced it myself. But the photo above is telling. Thanks to Israel’s killing three and perhaps four of Hamas war leaders and Mashaal trying to run things from Qatar, Ismael Haniyia has climbed out of his bunker to resume one of the top positions in Gaza.

Mashaal wants Hamas to keep fighting. Qatar has now been identified as the sugar daddy providing arms and cash to Gaza.

But there is more to this war now that early on.

It seems that Israel’s leadership...

While this photo shows ISIS fighters in their Toyota trucks, it is a fact that they have taken US made fighting machinery from Iraqi fighters who fled in fright.

They have taken lots of territory, are recruiting hundreds of fighters and making their mark, most recently by beheading an American photojournalist.

But there have been scores more who were simply forced to kneel and then murdered by a bullet.

A friend asked me recently, “Where did these guys come from?”

That seemed to be the same question that most of the US intelligence...

Hamas broke the eleventh cease fire by blanketing Israel’s nearest areas in Ashdod, Ashkelon, Tel Aviv and the areas of the Negev, killing a four year old boy and wounding three more civilians.

Israel paid back in kind by killing three of Hamas’ top leaders and likely a fourth.

That this kind of accuracy would not have been possible – the top guys are hunkered down in hideouts – without spies reporting to Israel’s Shin Bet, or intelligence agency.

Everyone in Israel knows that Shin Bet has ears and eyes throughout both Israel and the Palestinian areas....

Reports are out about a home in northern Jerusalem where some of our friends live being hit by a shot apparently fired from the Palestinian “refugee” camp Shuafat.

It lies just across a narrow valley from Pisgat Ze’ev, and for a while there was no security fence between the camp and the Israeli neighborhood. In fact we used to sit on one friend’s roof and watch the construction going up.

The media was quick to say that the shot was fired, but when we dug deeper, we learned that the bullet hit an apartment door, bounced off and was...

Even some terrorist groups are decrying the beheadings, mass killings and other behavior by ISIS. Here is the INSS report on the group:

ISIS: The Real Threat

INSS Insight No. 596, August 21, 2014

Yoram Schweitzer Yoram Schweitzer

In recent months the Islamic State (IS; formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, or ISIS) has managed to position itself as the most significant threat to regional stability in the Middle East. The organization has become a reviled global term, a synonym for extremism and a symbol...

The photo is one that you can see all around Jerusalem. People getting on the national bus line, Egged.

From our apartment window we watch them come down the hill, do the jog in the street, and head on down to the bus stop just around the corner.

And we’ve seen the buses blown apart by terrorists who masquerade themselves as Israelis, get on, try to stand just over the fuel tank and then blow themselves up, killing scores.

Let me tell you, when discussions come around to bravery, the Egged drivers are near the top of the list.

These brave...
