Thanksgiving means something different to every person. I was thinking about it this week and two memories came to my mind.

The first was at my Grandpa and Grandma Crabtree’s small house in southern Illinois. It was the center or our family. Their kids were all grown and married. I lived there after I’d left home as a teenager.

Grandpa had an old chair by the window overlooking the side porch, where he could watch the squirrels dining on ear corn he shoved down on the nails driven into the tree.

Sundays and holidays were special for this old...

With another American beheaded by ISIS and the world sweating the difficulty in dealing with them, our friends at INSS have issued an update that we want to share with you. But of course, with our own commentary added.

The Rise of the Islamic State: The Strategic Surprise

You’re looking at but one of the many bullet holes in the Har Nof Synagogue after two Arabs slaughtered four rabbis, wounded eight more men and women and killed a policeman who responded to the attack.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called out PA President Mahmoud Abbas for his part in the incitement of Arabs (West Bank, East Jerusalem and Israeli-Arabs).

It was easy to see why. Abbas was as guilty of riling up the ignorant masses as Sheik Salah with claims that Jews were endangering the al Aqsa Mosque and the Temple Mount.

Of course that talk is insane....

Here’s some of what I said on Tuesday on our Barnabuspress Radio Network broadcast:

“Israel’s government just said that they are “liberalizing” gun regulations in the wake of the latest attack. Further reading, though shows that they are blowing smoke.

“What they are doing is allowing concealed weapons licensees to carry their weapons now. That had been limited. I have a friend who is a member of the auxiliary police. He told me not long ago that the rules heretofore were that unless he was called up he had to keep his pistol under lock and key.

“Even the security...

Peggy Noonan has alternately bugged me and blessed me with her articles. She seems to me somewhat arrogant and then she gets downright insightful. The following piece is the latter, with a few exceptions as noted..

She called it “The Loneliest President Since Nixon.” In it she spared Jimmy Carter, and with good reason from her perspective.

We’ll add a few comments inside the brackets:

Seven years ago I was talking to a longtime Democratic operative on Capitol Hill about a politician who was in trouble. The pol was likely finished,...

The face of Islamic terror has lots of scary looks. Even this guy with the bad dye-job and his butcher knife can strike fear in the hearts of people worldwide.

Now comes the news that ISIS and al Qaeda have decided to unite to establish their caliphate. As news stories from lots of different quarters tell the story, the Sunnis of ISIS and the Shia of al Qaeda want outsiders dead, want the Arab nations to fall under their reign and their current leaders dead, AND they want Israel eradicated.

Well, consider this. The Palestinian Authority...

Ordinary men and women with extraordinary devotion to duty.

You are looking at Jordanian King Abdullah II. He is the nominative leader of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, cousin of the Faud family in Saudi Arabia and a man in a tight spot.

He is a friend of America, meaning that he charts a path between the 70% Palestinian citizens of his country, the Bedouins (of which he comes), and the Muslim radicals that also play a coercive part of his nation.

No one in their right mind envies Abdullah.

The Israelis work mostly behind the scenes with Jordan in a vast spectrum of enterprises...
