He is soft spoken much of the time. Mr. Nice Guy who ran the KGB and thumped his way to the top of the Russian government. You likely know what he’s done in Georgia and the Ukraine. Now he’s playing with the Iranians on their nuke program and landing more and more hardware and troops in Syria.

Recently he had a little tete-a-tete with Charlie Rose. I watched it and it was interesting to see when the fawning Mr. Rose got...

We thought after two reports in a row on Russians and jets you might be ready to relax a bit with some recipes from the Times.

It is always interesting to me to watch how tourists deal with “lox” on El Al flights. It ranges from “Ugh!” to “Can I have yours?”

At any rate, if you like cooking new recipes and Jewish food like our friend Hallie, we hope you enjoy these.

NEW YORK (JTA) — By the time the fast is...

As we said on Monday, Russia is flying its jets over Syria – now. This video report of the SU-25 Frogfoot jet shows one that has been moved to Syria for missions in support of the Assad regime.

Similar to the US A-10 Warthog, it is capable of the speed of sound when not carrying weapons. Rustic it may be, but it is a serious war maker.

So can Israel work with the Russians to eliminate the confusion and potential of shooting down these fast movers?

Russian President has had a busy week. He met with Sec. of State John Kerry and then with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both talked to Putin about Syria.

As Reuters reported, “Russia has started flying drone aircraft on surveillance missions in Syria, U.S. officials said on Monday, in what appeared to be Moscow's first military air operations inside the country since staging a rapid buildup at a Syrian air base.

There are Jewish terrorists in Israel. Predominantly inside Samaria and Judea.

That statement causes me no small amount of pain, but it is true nonetheless. And now the Knesset has taken up the issue by passing a law (first of three readings) to address it, at least in some ways.

“The Knesset advanced late Wednesday night a controversial bill that significantly broadens the definition of terrorism and toughens punishment...

Anyone who has taken one of the Christian tours to Israel is familiar with the name Ahava. Their Dead Sea minerals cosmetics are high quality, and favorites for the tourists to haul home.

Many even visit the factory along the shore of the Dead Sea.

Now that has changed. The Chinese just became a majority stockholder of Ahava at a price of $76.5 million.

“The final number of shares China’s Fosun International...

In case you missed it, Syria is a mess. Divided by various “rebel” factions, the land is a border to border killing zone. If someone is not a member of a certain faction, then it is open season on them. Millions have fled to Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. Now hundreds of thousands are crossing eastern, and southern Europe for Germany, Italy and France.

Below is a report from the folks at INSS, but as usual, we believe we should...

Nir Barkat is on the upswing. The handsome, wealthy Mayor of Jerusalem is looking good for a shot at being Israel’s Prime Minister.

He has raced Formula One cars, succeeded in business, and from our point of view, has done a very good job at Mayor.

But he is not crowding Bibi out. Far from it. Rather he is working hard for Likud, biding his time, and looking for an opportunity to expand his persona from Jerusalem...

It might surprise you, and it would certainly infuriate many Hassidic people, but apparently they are much like evangelicals.

At least that is what a recent survey concluded. For instance…

“The vast majority of the two groups, 89% of Orthodox Jews and 93% of white evangelical Protestants, “believe in God with absolute certainty,” while only 28% of other Jews were certain in their belief in God.”

For the entire...
